Top Model Round Up

I am officially an ANTM convert. The first couple of seasons really didn't do it for me, but by Cycle 3 I was hooked. And this season is no different. My favorites:

I luv this girl! She is the definition of FIERCE! From the lopsided haircut, to the boyish features, her look is sooo cool. But like Ms. Jay said tonight, I wish she wanted it as bad for herself as everyone else does.

What can you say? She's absolutely fabulous. Her fiesty attitude (standing up to Monique's crazy ass) and gorgeous pictures won me over.

Ugly name but still great. She's the second coming of Danielle, the pretty, down-to-earth black girl that knows how to take great pictures.

I Take It Back....

Solange is NOT a cool lil sis. I recently read the October 2006 Essence (which features a little blurb written by yours truly, turn to page 202) and was really disgusted at what this 20 year old mother and wife of a fool that does not work had to say. According to the other Miss Knowles, "I've seen what my sister goes through for this business. I don't need it. I'll do what I want to do because I love it. Not for fame." In other words, I'm not as talented as B and I'm not even gone try to work as hard. Everybody knows beauty is not one of my strengths and since my older sister is worth a few mil and about to marry a guy worth about 10 times that much, I don't have to work to support to my son and husband, so I won't.*

Completely not cool. I understand not wanting to be an uber-celebrity, I mean who needs crazy white men following you everytime you get a pedicure? But to say that you will work in an industry but not stive to be the best is just weird to me. Become a gardener, a hairdresser or a cartoonist. But to be a successful recording artist is to be famous, so why do it if you don't want to be successful?

And what 20 year-old says this? "When you have children, your priorities shift. So anything that's going to make me sweat? I'm not doing it anymore." WTF??? She is basically telling everyone that she lives off of her family and doesn't have to work and at 20 years old (the age most people work the hardest to try to establish a good life for themselves) she can stay at home with her fellow free-loader and chill, so as not to avoid sweating.

Wack. Just wack.

Amerie: Girl of the Week

In honor of NYC Fashion Week 2006, I am profiling one of my personal fashion icons: Amerie. Though not a standout in any other category (i.e. Talent), this girl dresses her ass off!! And I love that she's a Georgetown University alum. As Susan says, "Everybody loves an educated Black girl," lol. Anyway, here are my top 5 favorite looks from Miss Amerie.



1) At the 2006 Baby Phat Show wearing a dress clearly not designed by Kimora (sigh, Stripper Chic is NEVER Ok). Flawless skin- Check. Perfect Smile- Check. Bad Girl Attitude- Check.



2) Fabulous as usual at Lil Kim's welcome home party thrown by AOL Music. I am a huge fan of silvery white tones against brown skin. Luvs it.



3) Looking a little like Angela Bassett in this pic. Jeans + Structured Bag = Effortless Chic.




4) At the Ghost Couture show last year. Fab in jeans and simple accessories.



5) My fav. Looking elegant in Giorgio Armani with Mr. Armani himself.

Things I luv about me:

I luv that I'm a lady but can dance like a h** (Fergie Fergie luvs you long time, lol)......

I luv that I'm a few weeks away from my 21st but I still eat with colorful spoons and forks shaped like frogs and birds......

I luv that I am strong enough in my Faith and luv for Jesus that I don't have to be afraid of people that are different from me and that I don't seek to take their rights away......

I luv that I'm well-spoken without sounding like "Becky"......

I luv that I can walk out of the house with my hoodie and sweats on and still feel confident and sexy......

I luv that I watch CNN, MTV, Nickelodeon and Lifetime all in one day.....

I luv that I laugh loud without fear of looking stupid....

I luv that I don't have to prove how smart I am (uhhh, my pet peeve).....

I luv that I know having an education doesn't make you educated.....

I luv that I'm learning how to pick my battles.....

I luv that I know who I am and that I don't wanna be anything else....
